Charley Hull makes lucky putt as she chases Aramco Team Series victory

Charley Hull is trying to win the Aramco Team Series, which requires a little bit of luck. Golf is a game of technical skill, but there’s also some luck involved in the outcome of a shot. Winning a tournament requires tremendous skill but it is not the only thing that plays a role. Hull experienced that again on Thursday morning

The golfer lined up a putt and tapped it towards the cup. The ball rolled on a line until it hit a slight divot in the green and shifted just to the left of the cup. However, the ball was just close enough that gravity came to Hull’s aid.

The ball had just enough momentum to fall over the side of the hole and give Hull another birdie on the day. During the front nine, the English golfer recorded four birdies and an eagle.

She finished her first round on 7-under, tied with Luna Sobron Galmes and Pia Babnik at the top of the leaderboard.

Ahead of the tournament, Hull had said via Sporting News:

“I’ve played consistently all year so a win this week would mean a lot. I was particularly pleased with my Sunday Solheim Cup singles win against Nelly (Korda). She and I have quite similar games, we play aggressively, and I wanted to get her in the draw.”

So far, she’s come out in top shape to accomplish her goal and win this Ladies European Tour event. Hull also said she “enjoys playing aggressive golf” because “it just makes the game more fun.”

While Charley Hull is one of the best golfers in the world and someone who enjoys her sport, she’s looking forward to the day she isn’t playing professionally anymore. She stated this ahead of the Aramco Team Series.

“I’m a real home bird. I try not to play more than two events in a row nowadays so that I get to spend time at home and have a balance to life,” Charley Hull said via Sporting News.

The golfer continued:

“Although I was born to play golf, and love it, I also can’t wait for the day when I retire and I can spend every day at home, settle down and have kids. That’s my goal in life. That would mean more to me than winning a major.”

Hull also said that “being away and traveling all the time” has made her realize how much she enjoys being at home. She acknowledged that there is just “one life” and that everyone must “enjoy it as much as possible.”
