Tiger Woods has arrived at the PNC Championship, and after the first-day warm-up, he felt he was a bit rusty. However, he added that it was good to get a feel for the game and hit some shots.
Woods will compete at the PNC Championship this week alongside his son, Charlie Woods. This will be the duo’s fifth straight appearance at the event, and they will be looking to win for the first time.
On Friday, December 20, Woods chatted with PGA Tour SiriusXM’s Brian Katrek following the practice session. During the interview, he discussed his fitness after 18 holes of play.
“Rusty, very rusty, but it was good,” he said. “It was good to be out here, be out here moving and playing, hitting shots and just get a feel. I just can’t wait to see how Charlie did up there.”
Woods didn’t play alongside his son on Friday but gave an idea about how it was playing together.
“Well, there’s always banter back and forth, but this week it’s about us coming together and teaming up,” he continued. “Normally we’re opposing each other, but this time we are a team and gonna have a bunch of fun.
The PNC Championship will mark Tiger Woods’ first start since the Open Championship in July. Following the season’s last major, he underwent surgery to address his back issues. During a chat with Katrek, the fifteen-time major champion said he was ready for the TGL.
“Yeah, man,” he said about playing in TGL. “That’s the reason why I shut it down after the PGA, to be able to give myself a chance to do this and be ready for next year. This is all a step in the right direction, and I’m looking forward to it.
The first round of the 2024 PNC Championship will begin at 9:00 AM ET, with Nick Price and Greg Price teeing off alongside Lee Trevino and Daniel Trevino. Defending champions Bernhard Langer and his son, Jason, will be in the final group of the day. They will tee off at 10:57 AM ET alongside Vijay Singh a
nd Qass Singh.
