Former Bills Star Player Micah Hyde Sustains Serious Injuries After Crash on Highway
April 21, 2025 — Buffalo, NY
Former Buffalo Bills standout safety Micah Hyde has reportedly sustained serious injuries following a devastating car crash late Sunday night on a highway outside Buffalo. Authorities responded to the scene shortly after 11:30 PM, where Hyde’s vehicle was found severely damaged after colliding with a median and overturning.
Eyewitnesses say the vehicle appeared to swerve suddenly before the impact, prompting concerns that a mechanical failure or an evasive maneuver may have triggered the accident. Emergency responders extricated Hyde from the vehicle and rushed him to Erie County Medical Center, where he remains in critical but stable condition as of Monday morning.
Hospital officials have not disclosed the extent of his injuries, but sources close to the family report that he suffered multiple fractures and a possible head injury. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the New York State Police.
Micah Hyde, 34, played six seasons with the Buffalo Bills after beginning his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers. Known for his leadership, versatility, and presence in the secondary, Hyde was instrumental in the Bills’ rise to prominence in the AFC East in the late 2010s and early 2020s.
Following a neck injury in 2022, Hyde made a strong comeback in 2023 but faced recurring stinger symptoms and neck soreness, which had raised questions about his long-term health. He had not officially announced retirement but had remained unsigned since the end of the 2024 season.
Fans and former teammates have taken to social media to share messages of support and prayers for his recovery. The Buffalo Bills organization released a brief statement expressing their concern and offering full support to Hyde and his family during this time.
