Frustration Boils as Novak Djokovic Fan Bluntly Calls Out ‘Buried’ Notion About Roger Federer

In the open era of tennis, Roger Federer’s impact has been huge. So much so, that even after his retirement, in 2022, the 20-time Grand Slam champion is regarded as one of the greatest ever to play the sport. Then there’s Novak Djokovic – another great who’s impressed fans across the globe with his personality and fantastic skills on the court. The 24-time Major winner and Olympics Gold medalist has truly earned his place among the Big 3. However, one of his hardcore fans believes that Djokovic’s image gets tarnished repeatedly despite having a phenomenal career. Especially in comparison to Federer’s everlasting, flawless aura in the public eye.

Novak has made a lot of fans worldwide, but few of them have really managed to stand out. One such fan is Pavvy G – a tennis blogger and huge Djokovic supporter. He never leaves a chance to defend the Serbian on almost anything. In an episode of The Slice Tennis podcast, dated November 28, Pavvy G was at it again. This time, he talked about how Roger Federer‘s glorious image also has flaws. But he doesn’t receive much flak for his on-court antics. By that, Pavvy meant using banned words and throwing down rackets.

For those unaware, Rog once smashed his racket in frustration after losing a point against Djokovic, back in 2009. The incident took place during the SF match of Miami Open event where the Serbian went on to beat Federer 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. Djokovic’s fan believes that he faces comparatively more criticism due to his behavior whereas Federer doesn’t. “He’s is protected,” he said for the Swiss player. Adding on to it, he said, “So he’s done a lot of bad things that are not shown because he is protected whereas everything with Jokovic it’s magnified,” he added. “Can you understand how that works?”

Which Grand Slam event did Roger Federer famously smash his racket during a match against Novak Djokovic?

While explaining his point, Pavvy answered that it’s because Federer’s unfriendly actions get “buried”. And that they are not highlighted as frequently as Djokovic’s. “The whole point of what I do on tennis is that if Federer does something wrong it’s hidden, it’s buried. If Djokovic does something it’s on a loop 24/7. So people get that in their head,” said the fan.

But it’s not the first time Djokovic’s hardcore supporter has shared his blunt opinions on Federer. He had a lot to say when the Swiss Maestro didn’t show up in-person during Nadal’s farewell ceremony.

When Novak Djokovic’s super fan criticized Roger Federer for not attending Rafael Nadal’s farewell match

For those unaware, Rafael Nadal took retirement from tennis last month. He played his final match in the Davis Cup, on November 19, against the Netherlands’ Botic Van de Zandschulp. The latter managed to win this encounter in straight sets. More than the result, however, Rafael’s farewell ceremony became the talking point for multiple reasons, including Federer’s absence. While he did send a video message for Nadal, along with a heartwarming letter on social media, he couldn’t make it to Malaga.

As expected, Pavvy didn’t miss this opportunity to take a jab at him. In a post on X, dated November 20, the Novak supporter wrote that he was “genuinely shocked that Roger Federer wasn’t bothered to be there for potentially Rafa Nadal last ever professional match”. And that “he did the same thing for Andy Murray at Wimbledon too.”

On a previous occasion, Pavvy claimed that Federer was arrogant. Back in August, he wrote on X, “Federer started off quite humble with his success but that turned into arrogance and cockiness and that ultimately proved to be his downfall as he then struggled with the pressure he had put on himself and we know he lost some major semis and finals when he couldn’t convert MPs.”
