Tyrell Shavers made his NFL debut with the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 6. On Sunday, the former Alabama wide receiver could play for the second time, and he’s still chasing his first NFL reception.
The Bills elevated Shavers and wide receiver KJ Hamler to active status from the practice squad on Saturday, making them eligible to play when Buffalo squares off against the Indianapolis Colts at noon CST Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The Bills brought up Shavers and Hamler with wide receiver Keon Coleman set to miss Sunday’s game with a wrist injury. Wide receivers Amari Cooper and Curtis Samuel have questionable status to play the Colts after being limited participants in practice. A former Alabama All-American, Cooper missed last week’s game because of a wrist injury, and Samuels has a pectoral injury.
Shavers also was elevated from the practice squad for the Bills’ 23-20 loss to the Houston Texans on Oct. 6. In his NFL debut, Shavers was on the field for 16 offensive snaps and eight special-teams plays. But he was not targeted by quarterback Josh Allen.
