Tom Kim damaged his locker room’s door after losing playoffs at the 2024 Genesis Championship. The DP World Tour event was held from October 24 to 27 at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, Incheon, South Korea.
As per reports, the KPGA Tour will be paying for the locker door damage and then Kim will be asked to reimburse the damages. Further, KPGA is also considering forming a disciplinary committee over the issue.
In an interview with the Korean newspaper Sports Donga, the 22-year-old accepted his mistake and said that he would reflect on his actions.
Tom Kim and Byeong Hun An both finished tied after 72 holes at 17-under 271. On the first extra hole on par-5 18th, An carded a birdie while Kim faltered with a bogey. An won his second European Tour tournament after nine long years on his 103rd start.
Kim was one shot ahead going into the final hole after An scored a bogey on the 17th hole. An recovered with a birdie on the final hole to force the tournament into playoffs, while Kim missed the birdie putt by two inches.
After the win, Byeong Hun An said (via European Tour):
“It feels amazing, it’s a bit of a shame that Tom had a bit of mess there, but it’s been a great tournament for me, I’ve really enjoyed it. There has been a lot of fans out there supporting me and Tom and I feel like we had a great battle today. I just got a little bit lucky to be a winner out there today I think,” he said.

This was Tom Kim’s second runner-up finish this year after losing the Travelers Championship by one shot to Scottie Scheffler. He won €406,604 for finishing runner-up at the Genesis Championship.
Tom Kim apologized after causing damage to the green at the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship
Earlier this year, at the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship, Tom Kim landed in trouble after he damaged the green on the 12th hole at TPC Southwind.
Kim had damaged the green after he missed a short putt in the tournament’s final round.

Tom Kim later apologized for damaging the green and wrote on his Instagram story on August 20:
“Hi everyone. It’s been brought to my attention about my frustration shown yesterday on the 12th green, I will never lie to my peers and fans because I have too much respect and gratitude towards them. I wasn’t aware that I had made that big of a damage on the green cause if I did I would’ve never just left without repairing it, but I was clearly wrong and will take full responsibility of my actions and will be better going forward. Thank you and I apologize again and thank you for your support throughout a tough year,” he added.

Tom Kim had a rough tournament at the TPC Southwind. He scored 71, 64, 73, and 71 in the four rounds of the tournament. Tied 50th alongside the likes of Shane Lowry, Si Woo Kim, Brian Harman, and Chris Kirk, Kim also narrowly missed qualifying for the BMW Championship owing to his 51st place in the FedExCup standings
