Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy went head-to-head in a closely contested US Open earlier this season. McIlroy, who was seeking his first Major triumph in a decade, was up against rebel tour golfer DeChambeau. The final round looked set for a playoff, but McIlroy’s mistake and Bryson’s brilliance snatched the win for the LIV superstar.
The pair met in Las Vegas today and the duo engaged in a friendly war of words, reminiscing their thrilling affair at Pinehurst 2. DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka will face off PGA stars McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler in the Crypto.com clash.
The Irish golfer began the trash talk on the practice range, and the Crushers GC captain’s response left everyone giggling.
McIlroy said,
“I’d like to go up against Bryson and try to get him back for what he did to me at the U.S. Open.”
Bryson responded:
“To be fair, you kind of did it to yourself.”

The 4-time Major winner spoke about the face off and said (via Golfdigest):
“There is a bit more buzz because of what’s happened in golf the last two years. It’s more competitive and doesn’t feel as gimmicky.”
The exhibition match follows a similar format to the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup. This is also the first time a ‘LIV vs PGA-like’ contest has been organized since the inception of the Saudi-backed league.
The quadruple also met for a photo shoot for the event and photographer Michelle Watt had some kind words to share as she captured the biggest golfers in the world in the same frame.
“It was nice to see an overall brotherly candor among them and hear them crack a few dirty jokes with each other.”
Whilst Rory McIlroy will prepare to defend his title in Abu Dhabi come the new year, the rest will enjoy their time off and prepare for the new season. Are you excited to watch this affair between some of golf’s best in the world right now?
