The PGA Tour fall schedule may not have as many superstar golfers on it, but the intrigue in the sport doesn’t dip. This is an important time of the year for so many as the points awarded from these events go a long way to FedEx Cup status, which ultimately determines who gets to play on the PGA Tour next year.

With only the top 125 retaining their membership card, those below the threshold are in serious danger. Even those above it are in trouble depending on how they perform the rest of the way.

On that note, here are five golfers who might need to do something special to avoid the dubious distinction:

5) Kevin Tway

Kevin Tway finds himself in a tough spot at the moment. Among those who aren’t currently holding the top-125 placement, he’s the top-ranked one. Positioned on 126th, Tway is very close to getting above that threshold. He’s the closest, which is the good news. The bad news is that he’s not far above others and he’s still missing the points needed to earn the card for 2025. He last placed T35 at the Black Desert Championship.

4) Joe Highsmith

PGA Tour golfer Joe Highsmith is hanging on to a minuscule lead right now. He is ranked 125th, which means he is in contention to be the last golfer to earn his membership for 2025. Highsmith is 1.021 points ahead of the next-closest competitor, Matt Wallace. While a thin margin, Highsmith will need to not only do well but continue to outdo those below him in the standings this year to retain his Tour card. He placed T16 at the Shriners Children’s Open, which helped boost his points.

3) Alejandro Tosti

Alejandro Tosti had a few notable appearances this season, but they were too few and far between for him to secure his membership for next year. He is currently ranked 127th, so he’s got some ground to make up. He is just over three projected points behind the 125th golfer, so he has a chance to make a comeback over the next few weeks. Tosti was T9 at the Shriners Children’s Open, so he jumped up a bit in the standings.

2) Matt Wallace

Matt Wallace is barely holding on to his PGA Tour membership card. He is currently ranked 124th, which means a bad performance in any of the remaining tournaments could sink him. He is only four projected points above 126th place, which is a thin margin for him to manage during the fall. Wallace has mostly been playing DP World Tour events, including most recently the Andalucia Masters. He was T20 in that event.

1) Joel Dahmen

Entering last week, Joel Dahmen was 124th out of the 125. He then had an unimaginable turn of events. The golfer was hit with a four-stroke penalty for having an extra club in his bag, a glaring oversight by him and his caddie. Then, sitting one place above last, Dahmen had to withdraw. He’s not in a good spot with regard to keeping that PGA Tour membership card. He slipped to 129th over the weekend. Dahmen is in the field this weekend for the Zozo Championship.
