Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll sent the entire workforce home for Adrian Newey’s secret visit to the factory: Reports

It was recently reported that Aston Martin’s owner, Lawrence Stroll, allegedly emptied the team’s entire Silverstone factory just for a secret meeting and tour for Red Bull’s aero wizard, Adrian Newey. This was amid the British team trying to lure the engineer to their team.

In a recent report by Auto Motor und Sport, Adrian Newey’s potential move to Aston Martin was discussed. It explained how he could be the final piece in the puzzle for the team to create a dream squad of engineers that can push them to the top steps of the podium.

The report further stated that to impress Newey, Stroll cleared out the team’s entire workforce from the Silverstone factory to give a special and secret tour to the car designer. This was to prevent any information leaks about the tour. As per the reports, this took place before the 2024 F1 Canadian GP, a month after Newey’s Red Bull exit was confirmed.

In May 2024, Red Bull announced that Adrian Newey would be departing from the team after 19 long and successful years. Soon after the news broke, many reports emerged about teams that could try to lure the senior car designer. Teams like Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, and Aston Martin were mentioned as potential destinations for Newey.

As time went by, a few teams were cut off from the speculation, but Aston Martin continued to be one of the top contendors. Reports also mentioned that Stroll flexed his financial muscle and tried everything else to convince Newey.

As per some reports, Adrian Newey might soon become a part of Aston Martin during the 2024 F1 Azerbaijan GP. As of now, no official confirmation has arrived from the team or Newey himself.

F1 pundit dissects Adrian Newey’s secret visit to Aston Martin’s factory

Craig Slater, Sky Sports F1 pundit, discussed Adrian Newey’s secret visit to Aston Martin’s Silverstone factory in June 2024.

He explained how the aero genius surreptitiously visited the factory and the entire team was sent home while Newey was given a tour. He described how the owner of Aston Martin, Lawrence Stroll, met with the Red Bull car designer and discussed his personal requests at the factory.

According to the F1 pundit, the British team will be able to meet Newey’s considerable demands.

“Newey did indeed visit the Aston Martin factory a couple of weeks ago. This was almost a behind-closed-doors event. Aston Martin kept staff away, they did not want news of this visit leaking out,” Slater said.

“Newey toured the campus, met with Lawrence Stroll, the team owner, and personal terms have been discussed. My understanding is Aston Martin can meet Newey’s personal demands, although they are very considerable indeed,” he further added.
