Golf legend Sir Nick Faldo and wife issue statement: ‘It’s not healthy for anyone…’

Golf legend Sir Nick Faldo and his wife Lindsay Lady Faldo have confirmed they will be removing their personal accounts from X / Twitter at the end of the week.

The Faldos posted a statement to confirm they will be leaving the social media platform but that the Faldo Brands – Faldo Design, Faldo Farm and Faldo Series – will remain on X.

Despite labelling Elon Musk as ‘brilliant’, Faldo and his wife have taken the decision to step away from his social media platform since they ‘feel the growing number of posts with overly explicit content, including violent images, disturbing videos and aggressive language is not of interest to us or healthy for anyone to experience’.

They also explained X’s announcement to ‘make all posts available to all readers, including those who follow and do not follow accounts and those who have been blocked for cause has deepened our decision’.

Faldo, 67, is England’s greatest golfer of all time with six major titles to his name.

He got married for the fourth time, to wife Lindsay, in 2020.

Sir Nick is Lindsay’s seventh husband.

Lindsay De Marco, 61, is a former topless dancer who is an ardent Republican supporter and die-hard MAGA fan.

During Donald Trump’s speech in Montana in August, ’45’ labelled Faldo as a ‘major friend of mine’ and Lindsay as ‘his beautiful wife’.

Trump then floated the idea that Faldo could come and join his government should he get re-elected later in three months’ time.

Faldo quickly hit back on social media.

But earlier today, Sir Nick and wife Lindsay confimed they are leaving X for good.

They will remain, however, active on LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.

Here’s the full statement from the Faldos:

Dear Friends and Followers,

After many years of having accounts on what is now known as ‘X’, we have decided to remove our personal accounts from the platform and will do so by the end of the week. While we appreciate the free speech forum that the brilliant Elon Musk has encouraged and developed, we feel the growing number of posts with overly explicit content, including violent images, disturbing videos, and aggressive language, is not of interest to us or healthy for anyone to experience.

In addition, the announcement that X will make all posts available to all readers, including those who follow and do not follow accounts and those who have been blocked for cause, has deepened our decision.

We will continue to engage with our LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram accounts, which allow for both public and private engagements on demand.

Please know that the Faldo Brands will remain on X, and we welcome you to follow and engage with Faldo Design, Faldo Farm, and Faldo Series, the non for profit, 501c3, 30 year-old junior golf program that is the longest-running and most far-reaching in the world, with over 50 events in 30 countries and growing.
