Nelly Korda Furiously Accuses Charley Hull of Cheating in the Kroger Queen Championship, Saying Derogatory Words About Her Method of Play
The Kroger Queen Championship, one of the season’s most closely watched LPGA events, was thrown into chaos yesterday after a dramatic confrontation between American golf star Nelly Korda and England’s Charley Hull.
The tension erupted on the 14th hole, when Korda openly accused Hull of cheating on a critical drop placement, claiming Hull gained an unfair advantage that altered the flow of play. Eyewitnesses reported that Korda approached Hull with visible frustration, pointing directly at the spot of the ball and demanding officials review the decision.
What shocked spectators even more, however, was Korda’s choice of words. According to several onlookers, the usually composed World No. 1 unleashed a barrage of derogatory remarks about Hull’s playing style, suggesting her opponent had long relied on “sloppy tricks” and “shortcuts” to stay competitive.
Tournament officials quickly stepped in, attempting to de-escalate the situation, but the heated exchange had already made headlines. Hull, visibly rattled yet defiant, dismissed the accusations and told reporters afterward:
> “I’ve never needed to cheat in my career, and I certainly wouldn’t start now. Nelly can say whatever she wants, but the rules are clear, and I followed them.”
Korda, on the other hand, doubled down in her post-round interview, insisting that “professional golf has to draw the line” and that “turning a blind eye to these things damages the integrity of the game.”
The LPGA has confirmed that they are reviewing video footage of the incident to determine whether any rule violations occurred. While fines and penalties are possible, the larger fallout may be reputational: the rivalry between Korda and Hull has now been catapulted into one of the most controversial storylines of the season.
Golf fans have taken to social media, fiercely divided. Some back Korda for speaking out, applauding her passion for fairness, while others accuse her of poor sportsmanship and question whether the confrontation was simply a result of tournament pressure.
With the championship still underway, all eyes will remain fixed on both players—not just for their golf, but for how they carry themselves after one of the LPGA Tour’s most fiery disputes in recent memory.
