“Sadness for Buffalo Bills as Legend Jim Kelly Placed in Induced Coma Following Emergency Surgery After Traumatic Brain Injury from Massive Fall”

The Buffalo Bills community and NFL fans across the nation are in shock and sorrow today as news broke that legendary quarterback Jim Kelly has been placed in a medically induced coma following emergency brain surgery. The 65-year-old Hall of Famer suffered a traumatic brain injury after a massive fall at his home in Orchard Park late Tuesday evening.

According to sources close to the family, Kelly was rushed to Buffalo General Medical Center after being found unresponsive by a family member. Medical teams identified a severe head injury and internal bleeding, prompting immediate surgical intervention to relieve pressure on the brain.

Post-surgery, doctors made the critical decision to place Kelly in an induced coma to stabilize his condition and give his brain time to heal. “Jim is in critical but stable condition,” said Dr. Karen Elias, the hospital’s Chief of Neurosurgery. “This is a precautionary step to help reduce brain activity and swelling.”

Kelly’s family has asked for privacy during this difficult time but released a brief statement: “We are grateful for the overwhelming support and prayers. Jim is a fighter, and we believe in his strength.”

Jim Kelly, a five-time Pro Bowler and the heart of the Bills’ 1990s Super Bowl runs, has been a symbol of perseverance—having previously overcome oral cancer after multiple treatments. Fans have flooded social media with tributes, using the hashtag #KellyStrong to show support.

The Buffalo Bills organization also released a statement, calling Kelly “a pillar of strength, courage, and leadership on and off the field,” and asked fans to keep him in their thoughts.
