Dozens of people were injured and at least 14 killed after a vehicle drove into a crowd in the city’s French Quarter. Law enforcement identified the driver as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, an Army veteran who was killed at the scene after engaging in a gunfight with police.

Taking to X, Jordan announced his support for the Greater New Orleans Foundation and called on his followers to consider making donations of their own.

“The Greater New Orleans Foundation joins the City of New Orleans and fellow community partners to launch the New Orleans New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund to assist the victims and survivors of the 2025 New Year’s Day mass casualty incident,” a description of the fund reads.

The description notes donations will go to both families of victims and those seriously injured by the attack.

Jordan also described the attack as a “pure tragedy” in another post.

The attack was followed by a 24-hour postponement of college football’s Sugar Bowl between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The event is scheduled to be held in the Caesars Superdome, where the Saints play.
