Georgia will continue to look for help at quarterback after one of the nation’s top prospects reopens his recruitment.
Georgia is down a quarterback commitment as Nashville (Tenn.) Christian 2026 four-star Jared Curtis announced his de-commitment from the Dawgs. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect is considered the No. 3 quarterback in the country on 247Sports. Curtis originally chose the Dawgs over 35 other offers back in March, the first recruit to join Georgia’s 2026 class.
“The recruiting process has been an exciting time and a huge learning experience for me,” Curtis said, via his personal X.com account. “I am especially thankful to the coaches at Georgia for their belief in me and for treating me and my family with so much love and support from day one. This morning I spoke with Coach Smart and Coach Bobo and let them know that I still love Georgia, but would like to take some more time to explore all my options so I can make the best, most informed decision for my future. I let them know it just doesn’t seem right or fair to stay committed while checking out other programs. People to know where I stand and I’ve learned that making big decisions takes time.
My focus now is taking care of business during the rest of our high school season and being a great teammate and leader. I look forward to making the moswt of an open recruiting process in the months ahead.”
The Dawgs still have a pair of 2026 commitments in Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star cornerback Dominick Kelly and Jonesboro (Ga.) four-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman. Curtis visited USC over the summer but came out of the trip to California maintaining his commitment.
“I love Georgia. A couple weeks ago, I went down to USC, but I’m definitely still a Dawg for sure. I’m 100 percent on Georgia,” Curtis told Dawgs247. “I told them before, and they told me they was OK with it. They just said, make sure you’re still a Dawg. I’m definitely locked in with them and can’t wait to get up there again. It was a good time. I talked to Lincoln [Riley] for a while. I really liked it up there. The weather up there is crazy, but I’m still a Dawg.”
Curtis praised offensive coordinator Mike Bobo at the time.
“Definitely the stability of the coaching staff. Coach Smart, I know he’s not going anywhere. Coach Bobo, he’s locked in there. Coach Gummy, of course, he has a big role in it,” he said. “Their development, I think that’ll make me a better person all-around.”
South Carolina hosted Curtis for its game against LSU in September and Georgia got him on campus earlier this month for the game against Auburn,
For Bobo, the search for a replacement will now begin. Georgia is set to return three scholarship quarterbacks in 2025 – Gunner Stockton will be a junior, Jaden Rashada will be a redshirt sophomore, and Ryan Puglisi will be a redshirt freshman. In the 2025 class, Findley (Ohio) four-star Ryan Montgomery is in the fold as he continues to rehab from ACL surgery that took place in late August. With that in mind, there is also a possibility that Georgia decides to add another class of 2025 quarterback to the roster. Carrollton (Ga.) five-star Julian Lewis has been committed to USC since Aug 2023, but continues to hear from other programs like Colorado and Indiana.
Curtis is the second prospect to de-commit from Georgia in the 2026 class, with Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep taking his name off the commitment list after only a few days. There have been six de-commitments from Georgia in the 2025 cycle so far.

Jared Curtis decommitted from Georgia, the Nashville (Tenn.) Christian School quarterback announced Thursday. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder initially committed to the Bulldogs March 23 but has decided to part ways with coach Kirby Smart’s 2026 class.
Spiritual learners ranks Curtis as the junior cycle’s No. 9 overall prospect, No. 3 quarterback and No. 1 player in Tennessee.
